Our History
Our market launched back in 2008 with the intention to promote local agriculture while inviting the community to the historic downtown district of Annandale. While we started out small, our committed patrons and vendors have made this market a success from the onset.
The Annandale Farmers Market is made possible by our umbrella organization Annandale Area Community Team (AACT) and Discover Downtown.

Farmers Market Committee
the market is coordinated and managed by a team of volunteers
Corry Bregendahl, Market Manager - Corry has been a part of the market since 2017 when her son Rasmus began selling fresh baked goods at the market through The Danish Baker. Corry has a professional background in sustainable agriculture research and often lends her skills to the market. She enjoys tending to her large veggie garden, foraging for fungi and perfecting her sourdough.
Marnie Macgregor, PoP Program Coordinator - At age 15 Marnie began vending at the market for her family's orchard, Fairhaven Farm. Thirteen years later she has returned home from New York State where she worked on a variety of farms, and coordinates our program that gets kids and youth excited about produce. She enjoys listening to podcasts, making dad jokes, and eating apples. Amy Sparks, Committee Member,- As former chairperson of Discover Downtown Annandale, Amy is the founding member of the Annandale Farmers Market and served as the Market Co-Manager from 2008 to 2014. Creating inclusive habitats for building social capital and empowering young people to create positive impact is Amy's jam. She inspires change, and is frequently asking the question, “when can we start?” She enjoys hanging out in nature with her dog Ludo, anything to do with food, and asking curious questions. Patti VanDorp, Committee Member - Patti is a committed member of the Annandale community. She womans the market booth and manages the financial books. Patti enjoys hanging with her grandkids and staying endlessly curious about life. Barb Westman, Committee Member - Barb has been a part of the market since it's inception through her husband's beloved booth Papa Toms. Barb is no stranger to high-quality, delicious local food, having run her own catering company Cottage Gourmets for the past several years. Barb enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, playing board games, and completing DIY projects. Mary Ellen Wells, Commitee Member - Mary Ellen Wells has more than 35 years of health care leadership experience. Mary Ellen is very involved in community and educational volunteer efforts, including several boards and foundations that support nonprofit agencies. Prior to her healthcare career, Mary Ellen was a high school teacher, counselor and an account executive in telecommunications. Shout out to our past committee members: Sue Thwing (Manager 2008-2019), Heather Wirth (PoP Coordinator, 2017-2019), and Katie VanDorp (2020). Along with our additional volunteers that make the market possible: Harry VanDorp, George Martin, Zane Schaefer, and Mary Heinz.
